today we went thrifting to look for some vintage buttons. i wanted to join in on sally's swap. no luck in the button department so i guess i won't be able to participate. i did get a bunch of zippers. twelve for three dollars. we went to three thrift stores. one was at a community center and the other two were at churches. at out last stop, i found this flower-looking bowl and dip dish. the dip dish was sitting on a wire contraption and attached to the bigger dish. the bigger bowl (which is pretty big) looks better by itself so i dumped the metal holder. i thought it would match in the center of our dining table. it looks asian, but underneath in raised letters it says "calif usa c604". are these common dishes on the mainland that i have no idea about?
last night i stayed up and watched the rerun of project runway. it was the first time i've even seen it. wednesday nights, right? this first project reminded me of the wearable art studio class i took in college. for some reason i liked michael's dress the best. very creative and you would never guess coffee filters. keith's dress was great, too. simple and glam. he made sewing it look so easy. he is totally conceited. but, for some reason he didn't bother me. i think it's because he is so good. if someone is going to be conceited, they should at least have reason to be. on the other hand, stacey irked me. stanford, harvard, mba, blah, blah, blah, doesn't know how to use a sewing machine. was she going to hand sew in all the episodes? that's kind of thinking too highly of yourself if you think you can make it in the competition and not even know how to use a common (i'm assuming) industry machine. i know, it's only a show, but i'm hooked.
oh, thanks for all the comments on our newly painted living/dining room. i'm going to take your advice. i already took angela's idea about pulling the sofa away from the wall. it looks better already. i like laura's idea about stretching material to decorate the walls. craft apple already did it and it looks great!
